Nicholas Emery's artistic journey began amidst the diverse landscapes of the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Middle East, and Europe. His formative years, shaped by these varied cultures, imbue his work with an exploration of the human connection to land and the imprint we leave upon it.
With an international collector base, Emery's art has garnered attention through collaborations, curation, and participation in solo and group exhibitions, primarily in the U.S. and Caribbean regions. Notable venues include Soft Box and Medulla art galleries in Port of Spain, Trinidad, as well as Redline Contemporary Art Center in Denver, Colorado.
Holding an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts, Emery's artistic career has been underscored by accolades such as the Andy Warhol Foundation grant awarded to him in 2019 for his creative vision, "The Controlled Wild". Emery's project merges painting and film, delving into themes of human intervention and control in nature. Premiering at the History Colorado Museum in 2021, the film was well received by audiences as part of Night Lights Denver, projected onto the iconic Denver Clock Tower.
Currently Emery splits his time between his mountain studio near the Indian Peaks Wilderness in Colorado and his new studio in the plains of Oklahoma. His art continues to explore the intricate tapestry of trauma, beauty, and magic that defines our physical and spiritual worlds.
